From the towering ice cliffs of East Greenland to the wildlife-rich fjords of Svalbard, Lucy Yeoman, our Elite Polar Specialist, set sail on an unforgettable Arctic adventure with Poseidon Expeditions. Travelling aboard the MV Sea Spirit, Lucy explored some of the most remote corners of the polar world – a journey of glittering glaciers, peaceful Zodiac cruises, and awe-inspiring wildlife encounters, including a remarkable first-day sighting of a polar bear.

Greenland & Svalbard with Poseidon Expeditions.

We flew to Iceland where we spent one night in Reykjavik, before embarking the MV Sea Spirit the following afternoon and heading to the Westfjords for a day of exploration. We then sailed across the Denmark Strait before arriving in East Greenland late afternoon the following day, where we spent 5 days exploring and were lucky enough to see a polar bear on our first day there.

This was my fourth visit to Greenland, but exploring a new area of Greenland.

Segelsallskapet Fjord in East Greenland.

Zodiac cruising in Lilliehook Breen with my daughter watching the glacier constantly calving.

A very early morninghike in Blomsterbuktato watch the sunrise over the lake.

The expeditions to Greenland are in their summer months and it is not as cold as people expect. You don’t need loads of layers like you do in Antarctica and if you are hiking you really get quite warm!

We had time exploring Ittoqqortoormiit and were offered Musk Ox and it was delicious!

I love the reflections of the mountains as we sailed through Segelsallskapet Fjord.

Stunningly beautiful – breath-taking.
