When Do You Want To Go?
An exciting 6-day itinerary to encounter polar bears in their natural habitat. You will fly to Churchill, where you will start your polar bear watching journey on board a Tundra Buggy, an enjoyable way to search for wildlife! You will have the opportunity to learn from an experienced team about the wildlife of the region and go on a dog sledding ride.
Day 1: Winnipeg
Day 2: Winnipeg to Churchill
Day 3: Tundra Buggy Adventure
Day 4: Dog Sledding Excursion
Day 5: Tundra Buggy / Winnipeg
Day 6: Heading Home
You will arrive in the captivating city of Winnipeg and be transferred to Four Points Sheraton Hotel only a short distance from the airport. Winnipeg is only 15-minute taxi drive away if you want to explore the city.
You will meet the team at the hotel for a group orientation and welcome dinner, which will mark the beginning of the adventure!
The next day, you will board the flight to Churchill and enjoy breakfast on the plane. You will do a bus tour of the city and visit many attractions such as ape Merry, Port of Churchill, and Manitoba Conservation’s Polar Bear Holding Facility (weather permitting).
You will visit the Eskimo Museum after lunch. The museum showcases one of Canada’s finest collections of Inuit carvings, kayaks and artefacts. You will then stay overnight at Churchill Hotel.
You will board the Tundra Buggy with an expert local guide and see what everyone was expecting from Day 1: the majestic polar bear! The vehicles are equipped with appropriate heating systems to keep you comfortable in the Arctic conditions.
Enjoy picnic-style lunches and refreshments while watching the polar bears approaching the buggy. The residents of the area will also share their enchanting stories and impressive photography with an evening slideshow.
You will enjoy an exciting dog sled ride (or cart, depending on the weather) with a local sledding expert. After this unforgettable experience, you will enjoy a hot chocolate with fresh bannocks and listen to the expert’s fascinating stories.
In the afternoon, you will visit the Parks Canada Interpretive Centre where you will see wildlife dioramas and fur trade exhibits. The centre also offers a variety of videos, so that you can learn more about the history, culture and wildlife of the region.
Today will feature another Tundra Buggy excursion and a picnic-style lunch. Enjoy your last opportunity for bear watching before being transferred back to the airport.
You will board an evening flight back to Winnipeg at 7pm where dinner will be served. You will arrive in Winnipeg between 9-9.30pm and spend the night at the Four Points Sheraton, near the airport.
Take advantage of this last day to enjoy the city and its vibrant neighbourhoods. You can either extend your stay or decide to fly back to the UK.
