Day 1: Arrival

Most itineraries begin in the port town of Ushuaia, at the southern tip of Argentina. After checking in to your hotel, the evening is normally free to enjoy a quiet stroll around this historic port town. Some itineraries begin with this day in Buenos Aires.

Day 2: Embarkation

The morning is normally free to explore Ushuaia. If your itinerary started in Buenos Aires, then you will fly down to Ushuaia on an organised charter flight early in the morning. Embarkation of your ship is usually in the afternoon and after settling into your cabin, head out on deck as the ship sails down the beautiful Beagle Channel.

Day 3: At Sea

On your way to the Falkland Islands you can enjoy the facilities of your ship, get to know your fellow passengers or perhaps attend one of the lectures given by the expedition team. For the time spent at the Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctic Peninsula, there is no fixed programme for which sites you will visit. The expedition leader and captain will decide each day, depending on which locations offer the best things to see and most favourable conditions for exploration.

Each evening there will be a briefing with the plan for the next day.

Days 4 & 5: Falkland Islands

The Falklands Islands are the first areas you will explore and these beautiful islands are home to unique biological diversity, extraordinary scenery, and abundant penguins and other birdlife. Most cruises will call in at the capital, Port Stanley, where you can explore the brightly coloured houses and perhaps meet some of the friendly locals.

Days 6 & 7: At Sea

It takes around 2 days to reach South Georgia and anticipation will be filling the air amongst your fellow passengers, and the expedition team!

Days 8 & 11: South Georgia

Prepare to be totally awe- struck by this towering wilderness, South Georgia is worth the journey! One of the highlights is the enormous colony of King Penguins that call the islands home – it’s an amazing sight that you’ll never forget.

There are so many other spectacles here including sensational scenery, an incredible variety of birdlife and a fascinating history including the grave of the famous explorer, Sir Ernest Shackleton.

Days 12 & 13: At Sea

Sail for two days on course for Elephant Island and the amazing Antarctic Peninsula.

Days 14 - 17: Antarctic Peninsula

Finally, you will get to experience the magnificence of the last uninhabited continent by setting foot on the Antarctic Peninsula.

Every site in Antarctica offers something different and unique. Sometimes you may cruise around the ice floes on zodiac boats spotting penguins and seals. Other times you may enjoy a fantastic walk to an amazing viewpoint. There are also a number of historic and working research stations where you can gain a unique insight into Antarctica.

Days 18 & 19: Returning across the Drake Passage

After some of the most incredible days exploring you will return to Ushuaia via the famous Drake Passage. The time at sea is a great opportunity to begin editing the hundreds of photos you’ll have captured and enjoy your final days relaxing and enjoying your ship.

Day 20: Disembarkation

You will arrive into Ushuaia in the morning and disembark after breakfast. Most itineraries finish with a transfer to the airport and some finish with a charter flight back to Buenos Aires.
