When Do You Want To Go?
The Falkland Islands are an intriguing slice of Britain in the southern hemisphere. 250 miles from South America you will be greeted by some familiar sights, in Port Stanley, you will see red post boxes, they even have a similar currency, the Falkland Island pound, but what you might not know is that the archipelago is a wildlife haven. The Antarctic convergence passes close to the islands, which brings cool rich water to the surface causing an abundance of krill and feeding ground for all manner of wildlife including whales, penguins and albatross. The Falkland’s are home to more than 500,000 sheep and a million penguins, dwarfing the human population of just 3,000.
The Falkland Islands are a popular stop on our Antarctica cruises and voyages here will often visit South Georgia as well. Some longer cruises to the Falkland Island and South Georgia will also attempt to cross the Antarctic Circle.
