Longyearbyen is nestled in a valley along the shores of the picturesque Adventfjord, encircled by steep mountains and numerous glaciers. With only about 25 miles of roads, this village is divided into several neighbourhoods, including the town centre and Nybyen (New Town). Nybyen features charming miners' barracks built after the war, guest houses, a restaurant, and a gallery, and offers beautiful views of the iconic Hiorthfjellet mountain. Make sure to visit the Svalbard Museum, a perfect interlude between activities such as summer dogsledding or cruising to the abandoned Russian city of Pyramiden.

Follow in the footsteps of legendary explorers like Francis Drake, Captain James Cook, and Henry Hudson, who attempted to navigate the 80th parallel in search of a passage connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. The 80th parallel north, or N80°, is a circle of latitude 80 degrees north of the Earth's equatorial plane, traversing the Arctic and intersecting the Atlantic Ocean, Europe, Asia, the Arctic Ocean, and North America. Just beyond this latitude, you'll reach Moffen, a small, low island located north of the mouth of Wijdefjorden on the northern coast of Spitsbergen, the largest island in the Svalbard archipelago.

Your Captain will expertly navigate through ice floes, icebergs, and varying sea and weather conditions to maximise your expedition experience.
