The MV Ushuaia is a veteran expedition ship, having crossed the Drake Passage over 600 times and counting! Loved by passengers and expedition staff over the years, she has just completed an extensive refurbishment and has never looked better!

The hub of the ship is a large lounge that can accommodate all passengers and is also the venue for all briefings and main lectures throughout your cruise. You will also find a bar offering a variety of drinks to enjoy with your fellow passengers and a 24-hour coffee and tea station for whenever you need a cup of tea!

Adjacent to the main lounge, there is a smaller presentation lounge which we will use for more informal lectures or workshops, as well as offering a quieter space to relax and catch up on your favourite read or perhaps start editing all of your photographs!

The ship has a great restaurant which seats all passengers together and serves a comprehensive daily changing buffet for breakfast and lunch, and a three-course à la carte dinner. In addition, an afternoon tea of sandwiches and snacks is served in the main lounge each day.

The ship has an unrivalled amount of deck space, including an open bow (except when needed by the ship crew for navigation/docking) and full 360-degree views from the top deck. You will never have to jostle for space to see the incredible sights of Antarctica aboard the MV Ushuaia.

SMALL-GROUP ATMOSPHERE

With just 70 passengers, our cruises aboard the MV Ushuaia offer a fantastic small-group experience that can’t be beaten. You can expect a relaxed, social, and fun atmosphere with plenty of opportunities to interact with your fellow passengers. The main lounge area will be the hub of the ship, and you'll frequently find yourself listening to an expedition briefing, lecture, or socialising with your fellow passengers over a few drinks at the bar. The separate presentation lounge offers a quieter space to relax as well. The restaurant always has unreserved seating, and each table seats between two and eight passengers. This means you can sit with whomever you wish at mealtimes.

The small-group atmosphere works perfectly for all types of travellers – couples, smaller groups, and solo travellers who are looking to share their experience with newfound friends. Everyone on board tends to be of a similar mindset, all with the common goal of exploring as much of Antarctica as possible! We also do not take any bookings with more than 10 people to ensure the balance between the passengers is maintained.

SOLO TRAVEL

The atmosphere on board is perfect for those travelling alone, so you should expect to find plenty of other solo travellers. We have a limited number of solo cabins which have a single supplement of just 50%. However, if you are travelling on your own, we can also allocate you a cabin with someone else of the same sex, and this means you’ll pay no single supplement at all. Speak to our Travel Specialists who can help you work out the best option for you.
