Your voyage begins where the world drops off. Ushuaia, Argentina, reputed to be the southernmost city on the planet, is located on the far southern tip of South America. Embark the Hanseatic Inspiration ready to set sail in the early evening.
Become acquainted with your ship today as you enjoy a day sailing towards the Falkland Islands
This British overseas territory has more than just a turbulent history; discover its impressive bird life the moment your Zodiac lands. With more than 60 different species, including rockhopper penguins, Magellanic penguins and albatrosses, the Falkland Islands are a paradise for ornithologists. During natural history walks along the coast, your experts will provide fascinating information about the head-high tussock grass and the Victorian houses in Stanley.
Enjoy the amenities of your ship as you spend two days sailing towards South Georgia
In this unique wildlife paradise, the Zodiacs are used several times a day to let you experience very special sightings. Stand alongside experts in front of a gigantic colony of king penguins. The island is home to almost 200,000 animals inhabiting steep slopes and coasts - such as Sailsbury Plain or the Gold Harbour beach where fur seals and elephant seals will not be disturbed by your visit. At the former Grytviken whaling station, the grave of Sir Ernest Shackleton recalls the adventures of times gone by.
Your ship heads towards the South Shetland Islands and the Weddell Sea, as you edge nearer to the Antarctic Peninsula. Enjoy a day onboard relaxing.
For scientists, the Antarctic is an enormous natural laboratory, and that includes the largely glaciated South Orkney Islands. Gan an insight into the everyday lives of polar researchers, when, weather permitting, you will be taken by Zodiacs to visit the Argentinian Orcadas Station. Enjoy the pure fascination of the drifting tabular icebergs which you will see off Signy Island. Enjoy unforgettable moments when you set foot on the Antarctic mainland near to Paradise Bay. Snow-capped summits surround the bay, where icebergs the size of houses drift and glaciers tower hundreds of metres above. The gigantic glacier cliffs, such as those of Neko Harbour, provide a unique backdrop. Gentoo penguins stretch as far as the eye can see on Cuverville Island. One of the most impressive shipping passages in the world is the Lemaire channel: mountains up to 1,000m high line the strait of water.
When cruising the Antarctic Sound, the deck becomes your front-row seat for unique natural spectacles. The Weddell Sea is home to breathtaking ice formations, and covered by Adelie penguins and dense pack ice.
Today, your ship will cross the famous Drake Passage en route back to Ushuaia for disemberkation. Keep an eye out for seabirds as they follow the vessel.
Arrive back in Ushuaia, Argentina, with memories to last a lifetime. Disembarkation is in the early morning, you will then fly back to Buenos Aires for your return flight home.
