A trip to Svalbard is always a magical affair and the undisputed King of the region has to be the Polar Bear. On this 8-day cruise with G Adventures you will have a great chance to encounter this majestic creature. No one knows when or where the Polar Bear will appear, it might be close by from the security of your Zodiac, or further away atop some ice hunting for seals.
But this region has so much more to offer including amazing wildlife and incredible scenery. You will also have the chance to see Whales, Walrus, Seals, Arctic Foxes, Reindeer and a huge variety of birdlife. The scenery of the archipelago varies hugely, from hanging glaciers and floating ice to grassy tundra and imposing cliff faces.

Itinerary
Day 1: Late afternoon embarkation from Longyearbyen
You will embark on a late afternoon from Longyearbyen for the expedition. It is a small coal-mining town on Spitsbergen Island.
Day 2-7: Explore Spitsbergen / Svalbard
The expedition will give you the opportunity to visit as many locations as possible and spotting rare polar species. You will get on board a zodiac and set foot in the land to explore historical sites and experience the tundra. Patience and persistence will be your ally if you wish to see the polar bear and rare Arctic fox. You could also spot the majestic Svalbard reindeer or the Arctic tern.
On the island, the tundra shows its beauty and you can see Svalbard poppy growing and blooming. It is the symbolic flower of Svalbard. This travel will also bring you to see colonies of bird that can be only seen in specific sites. Be on the lookout!
