The Island Sky is an all-suite, luxury expedition ship. It was built in the same Italian Shipyard as its sister ship, the Hebridean Sky. The Island Sky is built with spacious, well-appointed suites, stylish common areas and state of the art ‘redundant-core technology’ that allows the ship to sail smoothly, even in the roughest conditions.
The comfort and safety of the Island Sky comes into its own on Antarctic voyages, where the ship crosses the Drake Passage to reach the Antarctic peninsula, if you prefer to avoid the risk of choppy waters there is the option of a fly-cruise, many passengers may feel that the crossing is all part of the experience.
The island sky is that it combines the highly experienced guides, naturalists, and expedition crew members; with the comfort and luxury of a boutique hotel.
The island sky accommodates 114 passengers, all of whom can enjoy world-class cuisine and comfort as they cruise in Antarctica. All suites enjoy exterior views, the bathrooms are marble-appointed and have the choice of a queen-sized or two twin-sized beds.
The facilities aboard include a dining room, a bar and a lounge with multiple screens and presentation equipment, informative talks are given here by guest speakers and members of the expedition team during the voyage. The ship has two computers in the library and Wi-Fi in The Library, public areas and in passenger cabins.
There is also a small gym, a hair & beauty salon, a lift between decks, and an onboard doctor and medical clinic. Every suite has its own private bathroom and an exterior view, some suites have a private balcony. All suites have flat screen televisions and DVD players.
