This adventure starts in Murmansk, in the Russian Arctic, where you will embark the icebreaker for an exceptional voyage to the top of the world and discover the marvellous sights of the frozen Arctic Ocean. This is a unique opportunity to discover the rarely visited Russian Arctic Archipelago of Franz Josef Land and spot the extraordinary wildlife in a once-in-a-lifetime voyage.
Day 1-6: Murmansk & the Voyage North

Welcome to the lively Arctic city of Murmansk and the starting point of your adventure. Discover the Soviet-era architecture and industrial port and explore the ship’s facilities before you embark on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Sail through the Barents Sea with the possibility of seeing whales. Take advantage of a tour of the engine room; or board the ship’s helicopter for a unique sightseeing tour, watch the ship break through the ice and enjoy the staggering beauty of the ice from above.
Enjoy the unique experience of standing on the top of the world, take part in the special International Round Dance, where a few steps will see you pass through every Meridian. This special ceremony continues with a barbecue meal on the ice and perhaps a quick plunge into the icy water if conditions are favourable! It’s sure to be a memorable time at a place where only a few travellers will ever set foot.
The Franz Josef Land archipelago is home to remarkable wildlife. A nature sanctuary for polar bears and other Arctic wildlife. See formidable cliffs nesting colonies of migratory seabirds like guillemots, dovekies and ivory gulls. The location reveals interesting geological features like the mysterious stone spheres on Champ Island and the fascinating columnar basalt cliffs of Rubini Rock.
Sail back to Murmansk through the Barents Sea and ensure to use facilities and amenities like the polar library, gym, saunas or the volleyball court. Make sure to be on the lookout for seabirds and marine mammals while enjoying the fantastic views of the seascape. Disembark at Murmansk and take advantage of the city one last time before you take the plane back home.
