This incredible voyage takes you to the top of the world. You will be aboard 50 years of victory, the most powerful nuclear icebreaker in the world, as it makes its way through the frozen Arctic to the Geographic North Pole. You will have the chance to see the iconic wildlife of the Arctic, take a tethered hot air balloon ride at 90º N and explore via helicopter.
Day 1: Helsinki, Finland
Day 2: Embarkation Day in Murmansk
Days 3 to 6: Northbound in the Arctic Ocean
Day 7: 90° North
Day 8: Southbound in the Arctic Ocean
Your adventure begins in Helsinki, Finland's capital, where you will stay for one night in the group's pre-cruise hotel
From Helsinki you will fly will your fellow passengers to Murmansk in the Russian Arctic and board the 50 years of victory nuclear icebreaker.
You will arrive at the planet’s geographic North Pole 90° North. The atmosphere as you arrive is electric you finally made it! Take photos, phone your family, wave a flag and enjoy your moment at the top of the world. As the day passes you will celebrate with a toast of champagne and a bbq on the ice. Depending on the weather conditions you may be able to board the ships tethered hot air balloon and enjoy the view across the frozen ocean
On the return voyage, you can sit back, relax and enjoy the journey. As you get farther south you may get lucky and spot polar bears hunting for seals.
Franz Josef Land is an archipelago of 191 islands and is the most Northern group of Eurasian Islands lying entirely within the Arctic Circle. You’ll be able to explore Cape Flora and discover the historic remains of three ill-fated Arctic expeditions from the early 20th Century. Conditions permitting you will explore in the zodiacs. The ship’s helicopter will provide sightseeing of the archipelago whilst he zodiacs will land you on remote sights.
Enjoy your time on deck as you cross the Arctic Ocean en route back to the port of Murmansk, the expedition team will be available to answer any of your questions about the wildlife and history of exploration of this remarkable end of the world.
Returning to the Northernmost city in the Russian Arctic you will bid farewell to 50 years of Victory and be transferred to your charter flight back to Helsinki.
After breakfast, your Expedition comes to an end, you will be free to fly home or spend some more time exploring Helsinki.
