Your cruise begins in the bustling city of Reykjavik which is home to almost half of Iceland’s population. Boarding your cruise will be in the late afternoon, enjoy some time to settle in before your first dinner on-board, but which restaurant will you choose?

Today is the perfect oppourtunity to explore the ship and make use of its many facilities. A visit to the Spa could be the order of the day or perhaps watching out for wildlife in the observation lounge. 

Located on Greenland’s relatively rarely visited rugged east coast, Skoldungen Fjord has enchanting scenery with towering snow-capped mountains. It will be into the Zodiacs for exploring the area including the retreating Thrym Glacier. If you are lucky, it is possible to spot whales in this area as well so keep your eyes peeled. 

Connecting the Denmark Strait with Davis Strait, Prins Christian Sund offers a protected course from southeastern to southwestern Greenland. It is one of South Greenland’s most dramatic natural features where you can find waterfalls streaming down the sharp, wrinkled mountainsides. Make sure you take some time on deck to witness this amazing spectacle.
This afternoon you will visit Aapilattoq, a small village of 130 inhabitants. On a stroll through the village you will see some of the local homes, a small school and church. It’s a perfect introduction into the life of Greenlandic Inuit.

This morning you will make a visit to the village of Nanortalik, which has an excellent open-air museum that gives a broad picture of the region from Inuit times to today. Part of the exhibition is a summer hunting camp, where Inuit in traditional clothing describe aspects of their ancestor’s customs and lifestyle.
Uunartoq Island has hot springs that were renowned as far back as the days of the Norse for their healing effects. Three naturally heated streams have been channeled to flow into a knee-deep and stone-lined pool. Unwind by soaking in the steaming waters and watch icebergs that come floating by.

Upon arrival in the southern Greenland town of Qaqortoq, its charms will soon win you over. Qaqortoq rises quite steeply over the fjord system around the city, offering breath-taking panoramic vistas of the surrounding mountains, deep, blue sea, Lake Tasersuag, icebergs in the bay, and pastoral backcountry. After a fascinating morning its back on-board to move to the day’s second location, while enjoying lunch.
This afternoon you will visit Hvalsey, which is one of the best examples of South Greenland’s many scattered ruins from the Norse period. Today the area is used for sheep-grazing, but until the 15th century the settlement, and specifically Hvalsey’s church, played an important part in regions development of Christianity.

Qassiarsuk is the newer, Greenlandic name for this small village. Brattahlid is the older, Norse name. Here you will tour the foundation remains of the manor house of Erik the Red, who founded Greenland after being banished from Iceland and Norway. You’ll also visit the site of the first Christian church ever built in North America, see a recently unearthed Norse graveyard and have a chance to admire Hans Lynge’s remarkable bronze sculpture of Erik the Red.
Itilleq is one of the most picturesque villages in Greenland with its quaint colorful houses surrounded by stunning rugged mountains and glaciers. This afternoon is your chance to explore the town or take a walk in the surrounding area.

Nuuk is the current capital and almost 30% of Greenland’s population lives in the town. Not only does Nuuk have great natural beauty in its vicinity, but there are Inuit ruins, Hans Egede’s home, the parliament, and the Church of our Saviour as well. The Greenlandic National Museum has an outstanding collection of Greenlandic traditional dresses, as well as the famous Qilakitsoq mummies.

After a few days of visiting towns and communities, today is about getting back to the landscapes and nature. This morning you will head through Evighedsfjord which can reach over half a mile deep and are lined with tidewater glaciers from the Maniitsoq ice sheet. Some of the cliffs along the fjords of this region can exceed 2,000 metres (6,600 ft.) in height so keep the camera handy!
The Evigheids Glacier flows from the Greenland Ice Sheet, the second largest ice body in the world after the Antarctic ice sheet, to the west. It is a slow-moving tidewater glacier, meaning this valley glacier winds down through the coastal mountains to the ocean at a snail’s pace. As the glacial ice enters the water it begins to float and the eventually breaks apart into icebergs that float away down the fjord. The shades of blue and carved shapes of these ice floes are infinite.

Known as the birthplace of icebergs, the Ilulissat Icefjord produces nearly 20 million tons of ice each day. The town of Ilulissat is home to around 4,500 people making it the third-largest town in Greenland after Nuuk and Sisimiut. You can explore the town or take one of the marked trails to view the Ililissat Icefjord and take some spectacular pictures along the route.

Located just north of the Arctic Circle, Sisimiut is the northernmost town in Greenland where the port remains free of ice in the winter. This is the final stop on this cruise and tonight you can enjoy your last dinner and toast all the amazing sights you’ve witnessed on your voyage.

Kangerlussuaq  is Greenland's main air transport hub and after disembarking you will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight. It’s also possible to see muskoxen, caribou, and gyrfalcons in the area too.
